If the light from more than 200,000 galaxies were blended into a single color, what color do you think the human eye would see?
In 2002, a team of astronomers discovered that the average color of the universe today is a soft creamy white with a hint of light brown, officially named "Cosmic Latte."
The exhibition "Cosmic Latte" brings this concept to life through the works of six renowned artists, inviting visitors to explore the color of space as it changes over time. As stars age and cool, they gradually transform into the soft cream-colored stellar populations that dominate the universe today, before evolving once again in the distant future.
In this sense, Cosmic Latte can be seen as a fleeting reflection of the universe—defined only through human perception and interpretation.
In today’s innovation-driven world, beneath the bright glow of progress lies a quiet sense of loneliness. It can feel as though many people are drifting through a vast universe, disconnected from themselves.
If Cosmic is about looking up at the sky, Latte is about looking down and appreciating the small things around us in the present moment. It represents a safe space where we can set aside the pursuit of technological perfection and return to embracing relationships, memories, and simple joys that bring warmth back to the heart.
As the world moves faster with each passing day, art can offer a space to pause, slow down, and rediscover the little things around us. It invites us to reflect on emotions that may have been lost amid the rush of everyday life, while reminding us that we remain human beings seeking meaning, connection, and a sense of belonging with those around us.
The Cosmic Latte exhibition invites visitors on a journey through the inner universe of the mind, interpreted through the distinctive perspectives of a group of artists, each offering a unique expression of this shared human experience.
- Tat Nattee presents dreamlike imaginings amid a sense of vast emptiness, inviting viewers to reflect on innocence and the light that resides within the human spirit.
- Keeyapat Katesawai reinterprets iconic figures through the mechanisms of life, dissolving the boundaries between the genius of the past and the hidden codes of rebirth.
- Nattapong Muanwong (Phoenix) presents highly detailed aerial landscapes of futuristic architecture, where nature appears to confront and reclaim these semi-mechanical structures, blurring the boundaries between the organic and the artificial.
- Prof. Bong Sub Park & Lina Ju, two artists from South Korea, present contemporary sculptural works that bring people together through the fusion of ancient mythology, time, belief, desire, and the mysteries of the cosmos.
- Wannawipa Kaewpitak (Viwenny) draws inspiration from exploring and understanding herself, as well as the people and surroundings that shape everyday experiences. Her works often capture ordinary moments imbued with meaning, transforming them into visual narratives that reflect intimacy, distance, and the evolving relationship between individuals and themselves. Each piece serves as a quiet, contemplative space, inviting viewers to pause, observe, and gently reflect on their own emotions.
Ultimately, Cosmic Latte is the color of the universe—a shade that invites us to look far beyond, across thousands of light-years, before turning back to reflect on ourselves in the present moment. Because in truth, humanity does not seek only the limitless pursuit of progress embodied by the “Cosmic.” We also long for the warmth, memories, and simple joys of the “Latte”—the things that keep us grounded in the here and now.
Cosmic Latte is a group exhibition featuring works by Thud Nattatheer, Nattapong Muanwong (Phoenix), Kiyapat Ketisawai, Prof. Bong Sub Park, Lina Ju, and Viwenny. Admission is free from now until 3 July 2026 at Art Jewel, 5th Floor, Siam Paragon.
