Swirl of Hues by Maria Culenova, one of the world’s leading artists
Siam Paragon reinforces its leadership in creating extraordinary art experiences through “Arena of Art” with Swirl of Hues, a glass lighting installation by Maria Culenova, one of the world’s leading artists. This marks her first-ever artwork showcased in Thailand.
Siam Paragon continues to redefine itself as the “Grand Stage of The World,” a global destination presenting diverse experiences under the concept of Luxury for All — a new definition of luxury that is accessible and immersive across every lifestyle dimension. Through its “Arena of Art” concept, Siam Paragon integrates artistic experiences into everyday life, allowing visitors to engage with art in a more approachable way. Most recently, Siam Paragon welcomed Maria Culenova, Head of Design at Lasvit, the globally renowned Bohemian glass lighting installation specialist, who specially created Swirl of Hues exclusively for Siam Paragon.
“Unique, Exceptional, Warming” are the three words Maria Culenova used to define Swirl of Hues. The Slovakian designer serves as Head of Design at Lasvit, the Czech-based world expert in Bohemian-style glass lighting installations. The Czech Republic has long been celebrated for its mastery in glass artistry, and Maria personally crafted this exclusive masterpiece for Siam Paragon. This also marks the very first time her work has been exhibited in Thailand.
The amber-toned glass chandelier draws inspiration from the movement of a brushstroke suspended in midair. Its circular form symbolizes continuity, with neither beginning nor end. Every glass component is handcrafted from Bohemia glass, a centuries-old artistic tradition originating in the Bohemia region, now part of the Czech Republic. Renowned worldwide for its exceptional beauty, premium quality, and craftsmanship, each glass element is created using intricate techniques to form curves and textures reminiscent of expressive brushstrokes. The artwork was produced using Europe’s largest sand-texturing tool for glass, while silver mica flakes were infused into the glass to create a shimmering effect. The warm amber and brown tones reflect the colors, emotions, and warmth of Bangkok.
“Siam Paragon is a vibrant place that welcomes people from all over the world. I hope this artwork encourages visitors to slow down for a moment, pause to contemplate the piece, and feel a sense of unity and peace. The installation is immersive and embodies a sense of quiet luxury, almost as if energy is flowing within it. Displaying art in public spaces allows people to access and experience art more easily, creating moments in daily life where they can pause and absorb artistic beauty,” said Maria Culenova.
Maria Culenova has over 15 years of experience designing glass lighting installations with Lasvit.
